Hi, guys. Welcome. We're going to see a video to practice greetings. It consists of two parts. The first part: you're going to see a short conversation. And then, you're going to be part of this conversation. Laura: Hola, Andrés. Laura: Hi, Andres. Andrés: Hola, Laura. ¿Cómo estás? Andres: Hi, Laura. How are you? Laura: Bien, ¿y tú? ¿Cómo estás? Laura: Good, and you? How are you? Andrés: No muy bien. Andres: Not very good. Laura: ¿Por qué? ¿Qué pasa? Laura: Why? What's up? Andrés: Tengo mucho trabajo. Andres: I have a lot of trouble. After giving an initial greeting, it's common to introduce yourself and say your name. Read the following three mini-conversations with a conversation partner.
Conversation 1:
Nicolás: Hola, amigo. Me llamo Nicolás. Soy de Venezuela. Nicolás: Hi, friend. My name is (LIT: I call myself) Nicolas. I am from Venezuela. Nicolás: ¿Cómo estás tú? ¿Cómo te llamas? Nicolás: How are you? What's your name? (LIT: How do you call yourself?) Leopoldo: Hola Nicolas. Me llamo Leopoldo. Estoy muy bien. También soy de Venezuela. Leopoldo: Hi Nicolas. María: Greets her boyfriend, Bastian Bastian: Replies to Maria and greets her María: Say "Tengo algo importante que decirte." (I have something important to tell you.) Bastian: Asks "¿Qué pasa?"
