Laura: Hello. Welcome to "Chile Dog". What can I get you Hi. Hello? What will it be?
Karin: Laura. Laura, relax. He is a student in my Spanish class.

Karin: Exactly. So let's learn how to order fast food in Spanish. Let's go!

Hi guys! I am Karin, your Spanish teacher from idiomaPRO.com, the fastest and fun way to learn Spanish. Today we are going to learn how to order fast food and that is why, as you have seen, we have our friend, Laura, here to support us.

Remember that ordering fast food is different than ordering food at a restaurant with a waiter. A fast-food environment is usually busier, bustling, and informal. It's going to be a short and straightforward transaction but it's still important to be courteous.

In today's video, we will first learn the key vocabulary. Then you'll see me order a hamburger and finally, you're going to order a hamburger with Laura yourself. But don't worry, Laura is going to be nicer this time.

So let's start with the key vocabulary for a fast food restaurant.
  • Main dish: Hamburger, French fries, Salad
  • Type of meat: Beef, Chicken, Fish
  • Size: Small, Medium, Large
  • Sauce: Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise
  • With or without: Onion, Pickle (pickled gherkin), Cheese, Tomato, Lettuce
  • To drink: Drink or soda (such as Fanta or Sprite), Pineapple Juice, Apple Juice, Peach Juice, Water, or Coffee.

Now you're going to see me order a hamburger. But pay attention because later you're going to order, too.

Laura: Welcome to "Chile Dog". How can I help you?
Karin: One second, please... Hello. Can you please give me a cheeseburger?
Laura: Do you want the combo?
Karin: How much does it cost?
Laura: The combo is two thousand pesos more.
Karin: Just the hamburger, please.
Laura:  Something else? Something to drink?
Karin: A large Coke.
Laura: To serve here or to take away?
Karin: For here.
Laura:  How do you want to pay? Cash or card?
Karin: With a card, please.
Laura:  It would be five thousand pesos.

Now you're going to order a hamburger. And to help you, you will read the words that appear on your screen. Let's go!
